Angelo Pizzo, writer and producer of 'Hoosiers', is filming a new movie in Bloomington.

Angelo Pizzo’s new movie “Someone Saved My Life” was taped on Monday, and there were about 30 cast, crew, and onlookers in front of Kirkwood Hall.

He based the movie on his youth, and it all takes place and was filmed in Bloomington. The story is about a student at Binford Junior High School who is coming of age.

The shows “Hoosiers” and “Rudy,” which are both set in Indiana, are what Pizzo is best known for.

A group of film students from the Media School were in front of Kirkwood Hall and were allowed to watch the taping.

A still shooter for the show named Wendi Chitwood said that they would film another scene at the IU Auditorium on a different day.

She said that the low-budget movie had been filmed in a nearby quarry and at Binford Elementary School, which was used as a high school for the scene.

An extra named Mike Brewington said that football scenes were also filmed near what used to be Binford Junior High School.

Pizzo went there and played football there when he was younger. Painting the ground and putting up goal posts was how they made their own field.

The movie is being made by Amasia Entertainment and Blue Ace Media, and it will cost about $2 million to make. Filming is likely to keep going in Bloomington all through November.
